How to Undo the Damage to Your Holiday Fat Loss

So you went to a holiday party last night.  And while there you decided to join the FGAA and follow McLuvhandles fat gain rules for the holidays.

Today you feel the bloat and can’t put the pants on that you wore a couple days before.  So you decide to rip up your FGAA membership card and get back on the wagon (i.e. you healthy fat loss diet).

But what to do.  You obviously hit a speed bump in your fat loss goals.  But all is not lost and now is not the time to give up.  McLuvhandles cannot win.

What you need to do now is figure out how to minimize the damage.  That’s where these tips can help.

1.  Water, Water, Water.  As I try to hammer home to all my clients and you,  water is the most important nutrient you can consume.  Especially now.  Drinking more water now (and I mean pure water, nothing with calories) will help flush some of the extra calories that you consumed the night.  Also, drinking water will also help increase your metabolism, so you can burn off some of the extra calories so they don’t decide to stay around your middle or thighs. Finally,  since the bloat that you are feeling is caused by the excess water you are holding to compensate for the extra sodium in your system, drinking water will actually help flush out some of that excess sodium. When you think that you drank enough water, drink more.

2. Dandelion.  No I do not suggest you eat the flower.  But you can try the encapsulated form.  This supplement is a diuretic and can help you flush out some of the excess water I mentioned above.  Take 500mg 3 times a day with a BIG glass of clean pure water.

3.  Potassium.  The bloat that you get by holding onto the excess water to compensate for the excess sodium can be counter by taking in more potassium.  Sodium and potassium are both electrolytes that your body needs.  When their concentrations in your body are out of whack it can cause the bloat that you are feeling now.  So eating more potassium rich foods (bananas, oranges, tomatoes) can help balance everything out and get rid of the bloat.  I recommend that you get your potassium from whole foods, like the ones list previosly, not from supplement.  Potassium in pill form can be dangerous in high amounts.Potassium How to Undo the Damage to Your Holiday Fat LossPotassium never tasted do good.

4.  Fiber.  Fiber can be consume from your foods or in pill form.  Fiber from whole foods is best.  Like water, fiber will help flush some of the exces calories that you had out of your system faster so that they do not become a permanent part of your surroundings.

Even thought I mentioned a couple of supplements to take, they are just that: supplements.  They can be added to and already healthy diet and exercise program.  Not fix a broken one.

One last thing.  I am a big fan of cheating on your diet every now and again.  But notice the every now and again part.  More than likely you will be tempted a lot during this holiday season.  So do a little pre-planning for how you will deal with all the speed bumps that come your way.  This is your body and your health we are talking about.
